Stuck in an all day
teleconference? Play Bull Hockey!
Subject: Bullhockey
Do you keep falling asleep in meetings and seminars? What about those long and boring
conference calls? Here's a way to change all of that.
1. Before (or during) your next meeting, seminar, or conference call, prepare yourself by
drawing a square. I find that 5"x5" is a good size. Divide the card into
columns-five across and five down. That will give you 25 one inch blocks.
2. Write one of the following words/phrases in each block
a. synergy
b. strategic fit
c. core competencies
d. network
e. bottom line
f. revisit
g. expeditious
h. to tell you the truth (or "the truth is")
i. 24/7
j. out of the loop
k. benchmark
l. value-added
m. proactive
n. win-win
o. think outside the box
p. fast track
q. result-driven
r. empower (or empowerment)
s. knowledge based
t. at the end of the day
u. touch base
v. mindset
w. client focus(ed)
x. paradigm
y. game plan
z. leverage
3. Check off the appropriate block when you hear one of those words/phrases.
4. When you get five blocks horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, stand up and shout
"Bullhockey!"
Testimonials from satisfied "Bullhockey Bingo" players:
"I had been in the meeting for only five minutes when I won."- Adam W., Atlanta
"My attention span at meetings has improved dramatically."- David T., Florida
"What a gas! Meetings will never be the same for me after my first win."- Dan
J., New York City
"The atmosphere was tense in the last process meeting as 14 of us waited for the
fifth box." - Ben G., Denver
"The speaker was stunned as eight of us screamed 'Bullhockey!' for the third time in
two hours."
Apologies for the hijack, we now return you to your regularly scheduled topic.

Oops, did I really do that? Honest
case of flying-fingers-slow-brain I'm afraid.
As to why this has generated so much response. I think (aside from the funny posts) many
of us have been dying to come right out and question Kyoko's stories ever since she
came on board and have been too damn nice to do it. And then she comes on and blasts us
with her little venom bomb, sheesh!
This thread has been positively cathartic for me as I wondered sometimes if I was the only
one who thought something was wrong in the state of Arizona (I'm pretty sure that's where
she claimed to be from). Its nice to know I had lots of company in my Doubting Thomas role
after all.

I came here because I thought that this was an objective, well-reasoned forum, and all I
see is a bunch of whiny-NFBSK babies who decide they're going to get all thier snopes
friends together and gang up on people who don't agree with them. I can count the number
of posts where I didn't get verbally sodomized for posting an opinion and not producing so
much NFBSKing validation even seixon could get it on one hand!

Gosh darnit, I can't resist
posting to this thread any longer!
1) I haven't gotten around to joining the church of the clueless, but I'd like to now.
Mainly because I haven't had any cookies in a while. I make good choc chip cookies. I'll
whip up a batch when I get the chance
2) Am I the only one that didn't doubt Kyoko's stories too much, mostly because I didn't
realise that the being dumped on stage, cat/neighbour, brother/family, and vietnam vet
stories were actually all from the same poster? Am I just really lazy in remembering who's
posted what, or is this a common problem?

Well, 1) it doesn't seem that you
were the only one, and 2) you don't necessarily have to link them all together to suspect
that they're fake. When I saw the "dumped at concert" thread, I don't think I
had consciously recognised Kyo before then, but my BS-o-meter went full tilt. And the cat
thread -- there's no way I ever would have believed that. 20 minutes after seeing her cats
mauled to death and she's posting on an internet board and not on to the police? Please.
And I agree with Christie -- when you've spent a while rolling your eyes and getting
aggravated at seeing other people being deceived (AFAICT), it does feel good to get it off
your chest. I still think she'd be gratified to see an 12-page long thread though -- even
if it isn't overwhelmingly positive, it's still attention. Does it really matter though?
I've still enjoyed all the witty comments (and above all, JPB's costume changes! brilliant
-- the pomeranian is the best!!)

Well, FINALLY! Do you guys realize
I have spent almost the entire day reading mammoth Snopes threads? Between this one and
the "where did Church of the Clueless comes from" thread I have been stuck here
all day. Totally glued! And I still haven't finished the "I Believe in God"
thread!
Boy do I love you guys, though *grin*
Oh, and I have to admit to being the most gullible snopester on the planet. I never
doubted any of kyoko's posts. I generally assume people are being honest. (not TV and
media and stuff. I do try to think critically at times *grin*) Boy do I feel like a dope
Ooooh and I actually thought that photo really was JPB.

In the "We've got pictures
part 2" thread, Kyoko and I both posted pictures and the comment was made by Kyoko
and tommygungirl that we looked like sisters (blond hair, similiar facial features). Color
me surprised when she posted the picture of her with black hair - all of a sudden she
looked Asian. Of course when I tried to go back to the original thread the picture was no
longer up. But it was definitely a different person in the photo.

mattie, you are the voice of
reason in my babblefish head. I was sooo confused! I'd remembered kyoko as being
blond-haired too. And much hooting and hollering from the men-folk ensued She didn't look even remotely Asian to me. When I saw the
"Nam Vet" thread I was more than a little surprised.
Btw, since there is all this "Book of Allison" stuff going on, can I get in for
half price since I'm an Allison too? I promise to throw lots of cookies
AND Cheez-Its in the air while I fling up my hands! honest!

There is no way I'm going
to be ale to catch up with this thread tomorrow before I start work, is there? Ah well. A
spot of judicious copying and pasting may be in order, methinks.
As for Kyoko's dramas, I'm another one who was unimpressed. I wouldn't say I disbelieved
her, exactly, just that it seemed an awful LOT to happen to someone so young. But I'm no
stranger to family trauma happening in a short space of time, so I gave her the benefit of
the doubt by ignoring her. I never saw the getting dumped by my boyfriend turned me gay
thing though - now THAT one I definitely would NOT have believed!
And the reason I'm not worrying about whether she truly has 'issues' that were being dealt
with by a therapist is that I believe that all that was a pile of toss too.
I did suspect the photos, though, especially after she talked about dying her blonde hair
black and suddenly realised she was Japanese in appearance. Japanese hair is notoriously
difficult to lighten in the first place, and it's not often successful on hair as long as
hers was in the photo - not without it all snapping,a nyway. And I can't imagine there are
many natural Japanese blondes running about (go on, prove me wrong!)
Oh well. Anyone got any low fat cookies? *flings up hands* wheeee!

Ahead, groove factor five! My live journal
When I was waiting on my password,
I saw a few posts where people were talking about a kyo, and I didn't know what they were
talking about until I came here.
Now, I'm not going to defend Kyo; this was a totally unjustified cop-out, but she does
remind me of a boy we had in high school. Follow me the whole way through, I'm not sure
how well I can tell this...
He was extremely clumsy, I mean the take out the 10 closest people to him when clutz
attacks hit type clumsy. He was a nice boy, just made a lot of mistakes that made him a
person to be avoided at all costs being a clutz. Eventually he became pathetically lonely
and insecure and began embellishing "traumas" until we thought he was lying
about everything. His "traumas" eventually just got some eye-rolling, although
we were polite enough to listen.
However, recently I ran into a high school friend who moved back here, and he said not all
of it was crap when he was brought up talking nostalgia; it was severely embellished when
he told, but there were bullies who saw him as a bully's wet dream because he bruised like
a grape and no one believed him when he talked, so they preyed on him.
I don't know Kyo's story, but she reminds me of that kid... I feel sorry for her more than
anything else, and hope the therapy she mentioned can help her with her obvious issues.

little in the intellectual area b/c The massive intelligence of this board overwhlems my
