While I must admit that I enjoy
cookies as much as the next snopester, I am amazed that so many found it necessary to join
a church devoted to people who have lost their pool sticks. I suppose that I must have
missed something somewhere, since I don't "get" the whole Churc of the cueless
thing.
Maybe I should start a church for people who are slow on the uptake, like me... Yeah! I
think I will!... Now what to call it...?

tried all kinds of combos with the file name (blond, blonde, short, etc.) but couldn't get
another picture to come up.

I wouldn't disagree that willows
and cottonwoods like moist environments. But they do occur where there does not appear to
be any water (although not arid). Groundwater is nearly everywhere but is invisible and
could account for some situations.
I grew up in the Chicago area. For part of my youth I had an enormous willow in my
backyard. It was about a mile to the nearest creek, no pools, no septic tank...no water.
Several neighbors on the block also had big ass willows. The trees were obviously older
than the suburb itself, but it wasn't a former "wetland". Grandma lived on a
street that was totally lined with giant cottonwoods (messy suckers). Closest water was at
least a mile. No pools, tanks, etc.

OK, I'm willing to put what little
reputation I have on the line and state: that's not Phoenix. Grass that green? Highly
doubtful unless they water every day. That looks like a willow to me too, and I don't
believe you'd find one that big in Phoenix; it's lower and hotter than Tucson and the only
place we would find those here is along the Rillito (maybe) or in Sabino Canyon, which has
a stream for most of the year.
For whatever reason my own personal guess would be one of the gulf states: Florida,
Mississippi, etc.

Jeez Louise, this thread is
incredible! What's in the water these days?
I've been distracted because my mom was in the hospital having hip replacement surgery
(she seems to be doing fine, thank you), but to happen across this...this monster after
just a day or so of not really paying attention....
Incredible. Just incredible.

"Friday the thirteenth come on a Friday this month--urk!"--Walt Kelly
That was about twice as rude as
what I said to you.
I apologize.
I would have appreciated it, however, if you'd just answered the question and corrected my
misinformation. Like: "no, actually, Arizona has plenty of places where willows would
thrive, as well as due to irrigation, the cities are greener than you might expect"
I'm corrected, my question is answered, and ok, the photo is still consistant with her
bogus cat story. drat.
I am genuinely curious about your claim that I've snarked at you over a simple mistake. I
know we've locked horns in the past, but I only recall vaugely that a few times you've
responded to a post in a way that offended/rubbed me the wrong way and I was snarky in
response. If you remember otherwise, please pc & let me know and I'll see if I can dig
it up and have a look see. If it was more of a "two to tango" situation, then
perhaps we both need to agree to avoid sarcasm or "saucyness" when addressing
each other. I certianly don't dislike you, and I'd rather not continue to clash
unexpectedly. To be honest, I didn't even see your name in front of the post, I saw the
words in it, and responded to them. So my apologies, I was not paying attention to
"who" I was speaking to to see that no, you normally do not sass people in
response to questions.
Cottonwoods, Willows, water and locations further away from it: ok, example accepted and I
stand corrected. Chicago, being on a lake, would probably have a much higher level of
precipitation, but the real problem here is not where do they grow, but a lack of
information on my part about Arizona.
Hence my question in the first place.
Anyhoo. I suppose no one really believes her story at this point, I was just looking at
what seemed like an inconsistancy in the photo.
When she says "the bitches that did it" I think she was referring to the dogs in
an insulting way, not as literally bitches/female dogs.

I have some pics of when I was in
Scottsdale and it looks pretty green in the pics I have. I realize it's all irrigated, but
there were some sizeable trees. Not willows, necessarily.
Of course, you'd know more about that than me. I didn't even realize, initially, that I
wasn't staying in Phoenix. I only went for a longish weekend once
because I was curious since I usually stopped over on flights from California to Michigan.
I thought, what is Phoenix like? Got a great airfare (less than $100 from Bakersfield to
Phoenix), and off I went.
Those were the days...

Yeah, everytime I log on again
there's at least one entire new page. It's like a train wreck, horrific, but hard not to
watch.
It reminds me of when I finally got around to seeing what was so dang interesting in the
"I believe in God" thread. By the time my curiosity got the better of me, it was
already 10 or more pages long. But, I started at the beginning and read the durn thing all
the way through. Fool that I am.

Sort of going back to the OP (not
the post itself, but the poster herself) - I know there's been some discusion about
"she's a blonde" - then - "but suddenly, she was Asian with brown
hair". I remember the blonde pic, and then the brunette pic, but am I the only person
who does remember the blonde pic as looking somewhat Asian? What struck me about both
photos was how soft focus/blurry they were (as if they were scans of a magazine pic, or
glamourshots, or porn screen captures - whatever).
Anyway, am I the only person who remembers the blonde photo as being slightly Asian?
Or is this Nyquil better than I thought? - Stressa

I'm starting to feel real uneasy
about this thread. Though obviously, I was one of her least favorite snopsters, I think
that there's a moment when we have to give her a proper burial and be done with it. We've
gone beyond poking the body with sticks and into a full disection with color commentary
and even Kyoko deserves a little bit more than that.

Hey Beach, if I ever decide to
leave the ULMB in a total flameout, not only will I give everyone their props, but I'd
like for the corpse to be poked incessantly with sharp pointed sticks, while everyone from
the CotC stands around, eating cookies, and getting crumbs all over me.
But, I can see the point of preserving dignity, and all that. Good thing few of us have
dignity left to preserve.

You're probably right Beachlife (I
was wondering when someone was going to say this), but I've just come back after a long
slumber and wanted to say (none of which is intended as dead-body poking, just answering
some questions raised):
1. Willows Actually, Silas is right about there not having to be a body of water
for willows. We have a massive willow in our back garden, but the nearest body of water (a
river) is about 1/4 mile away (I know their roots are long, but they aren't that
long!). We do however, live in the southwest of England, which isn't exactly notorious for
its dry climate...
2. As to the blonde Asian pic -- I never saw the blonde pic, but when she said she'd dyed
her hair and posted the dark pic, I tried to picture her with blonde hair. From that
visualisation, I could imagine her not looking very obviously Asian if she had blonde
hair. At the time I thought it was a fair comment, that the black hair probably had
brought out her Japanese features.
3. The one thing I never had any doubts about (although I could have been wrong) was that
that was a genuine picture of her. Mainly because she always went on about how
"ugly" she was, and I find that that is a peculiar affliction of very attractive
young women -- you can have a girl who's drop dead gorgeous saying she's "ugly".
I think it's because they want everyone else to swoon in disbelief and say "Are you
kidding? you're gorgeous!" I thought it was a less likely for someone to think
to inflict this delusion/attention-seeking scam upon a fictional character.
4. I actually think (as I'm sure most everyone else does) that Kyo, whoever she is, is
very troubled. There seems to be more of a leaning toward annoyance than pity, but
nevertheless... I'd often thought that I should try to tell her privately that the stories
were unbelievable (or that, even if they were true, they looked unbelievable) -- but it's
harder on an internet board, it doesn't feel appropriate to confront someone with those
sorts of assumptions, even by PM (IRL I would have definitely said someting to her, long
long ago). I hope at least if she did continue reading this thread that she got that
message, that she wasn't fooling anyone -- at least it's finally out in the open. That was
my big concern, in that, by not saying anything, she would be tempted to come up with more
and more delusional tales, and might actually start to believe them (but I'm no mental
health expert, it was just my feeling). The second was that some people did appear
to being taken in by them, and investing their concern where it was not warranted.
Okay, that's all I wanted to say
