Yeah. I've seen two others go down
in flames, one shunned and the other shunning us, and with both their posting just
stopped. Their user info didn't change for quite some time afterward.
Actually, I'd have to check up on the shunned one to see if his info has ever changed.
Edit:
Nope. He still looks like your run of the mill snopester. I guess you can be banned for a
while before your login information expires.

I think it used to be. I don't
really know the system (this level of admin power is firmly in snopes' camp), but my guess
is people get banned by IP so they can't post but the account stays 'active'. I expect
that works as the red flag so people can't reregister. Once the account becomes inactive
after however long (I think inactive accounts get purged after a few months) then the
status changes become visible.

I never read threads this long, but I swear it's like a car accident; I'm mortified but I
can't look away.
Now that I've added nothing useful to the discussion, as soon as my Girl Scout cookies
come in I'd like to brew a big pot of coffee and humbly ask if the Church of the Clueless
will consent to have me as a member. My dog can also be utilized to snark up any crumbs.
"Come get this" will have her immediate attention.

Oh! Noftessa, low-carb peanut
butter cookies? My parents just started the South Beach Diet (?)(diabetes' concerns) and
my dad loves peanut butter cookies. I'd love the recipe...
I have Chocolate Earthquake cookies here. Anyone want any?

It was an online journal (diary).
Not written as fiction although whether it was a true story or not, I don't know. This

had the exact same cat story.

Yes, Noftessa, share the low carb
PB cookie recipe, we snopesters need to know! I love PB cookies, and like Algae's dad, my
mom is on the South Beach diet, and I'm sure she'd love to have it, too!
I am all about cookies, I think we need to open a very special San Diego branch of the
CofC, don't you agree, Noftessa?

Banning is too good for her. If I
may interject my humble opinion here, I think she should stay just everybody could ignore
her(if she should pop back up). Group ostracism is a better then just deleting her
membership account.

Well, I was going to start another
thread, but I am quite amused at how this thread is no longer about what's her name (what
is her name again??)
So, here is the link for the recipe I use. There are a ton out there, so
if you don't like this one, then try others. Splenda is something easily found at regular
grocery stores.

Absolutely!!! Just give me really
good directions because I am (surprise) clueless about going to new places.
noftessa
ETA: There are other artificial sugars out there. If you don't want to use Splenda, use
whatever you like - just use whatever equals one cup of real sugar. For instance, granular
Splenda has 24 grams of carbs in one cup. Liquid Splenda (available in Australia and
Canada I think - definitely not available in the US) has 0 carbs per the equivalent of one
cup - thus bringing the cookie carb count down significantly. I am told on good authority
that the lack of volume from using a liquid sweetner does not effect the outcome of the
cookies. I have not tried making these with liquid Splenda yet - I just received my
shipment from a very dear friend in Australia. [/low-carb cooking lesson]

FWIW, several of my baby name
books list "Kyoko" as a first name; they seem to agree that the name means
mirror. I googled a few Japanese name sites, and found it on some of them as well.
As for cookies, I have lemon bars- does that count?

Thank you, Noftessa! I just sent
the link to the main site to my mom in e-mail, and saved it to my own favorites folder!
I have to give you directions? See, I was thinking that you could be the one to handle
that aspect of it, as I'm pretty darn clueless, myself! Hmmm...perhaps this isn't such a
good idea!

I was wondering about that
(actually I was wondering whether we might see a brand new user coming on in a day or two
and saying, "From the sounds of it, you're being far too hard on this Kyoko person --
those stories sounded perfectly plausible to me")... but wouldn't the other use name
have posted something more sympathetic (and/or flaming of other posters) than anything
we've seen so far? Or are her other personas (personae?) more rational?

The only other "Kyoko"
I'd heard of was John Lennon's stepdaughter: Yoko Ono's daughter from her marriage to Tony
Cox. Yoko immortalized her in her signature song, "Don't Worry Kyoko, Mummy's Only
Looking For Her Hand In The Snow."

FoT, I think that whenever

"And that First of Two! What an evil, obnoxious bastard!"
Funny, but when I saw that the wacky monkey had launched a tirade against Noemi, I
immediately thought of a Television Without Pity post about Hildi of "Trading
Spaces." The poster came up with a logical explanation of Hildi's taste based on some
shocking evidence: Hildi once painted a ceiling purple "to represent the sky."
Hildi thinks the sky is purple. Ergo, it's clear that she actually lives in another
dimension, and is interacting with ours while she sees something else entirely, kind of
like some variation on what was happening in "Hollow Man." Clearly, Kyo has been
receiving posts from the alternaverse Snopes board where gluing hay to the walls is
considered de rigeur and everyone was thoroughly bored by Beachlife's gecko saga.
Think we could get a research grant for this?

Actually I have two friends named
Kyoko (one Kyoko, one Kyouko) and the meaning does seem to run along the lines of
"mirror" or "clarity". It`s not a very common name though.

(ETA: apparently, this is a popular phenomena of which I am clueless - Japanese
art/anime'.)
Not a particularily rare name, but
I think you're quite right. Rumiko Takahashi is the creator of that particular series
(Maison Ikkoku), as well as Inu-Yasha, another show Kyoko has rambled away about liking
(don't let that be a turn off, Rumiko's work is great stuff).
She shortened her brother's name to "Ryo" in her post about him, which was out
of place and struck me as similar to my bad fiction in 7th grade (sorry, but true).
There's a Ryu in Ranma 1/2, another Rumiko series. Tenchi Muyo has two different
charectors, the one that immediately popped to mind when I saw her post was Ryoohki.
There's also Ryouko, but she's a female charector. I'm guessing Ryoohki.
I'm going to throw it all on the table and bet the photo is completely bogus as well. I
get the vibe that Kyoko is an angry american teenager without a hint of asian blood in her
and a big fantasy life. Eh, I'm betting her art is stolen as well.
Bev, if she stole a snopester's journal entry about their cats, why didn't they step up?
I'm not saying she didn't, I'm just surprised anyone would let her get away with such a
thing.
